All things being equal, including the budget for engineering and construction, a larger vehicle has more crumple zones and a heavier vehicle is more likely to cause damage than receive it in an crash.

This is some insane video game shit. Imagine being a pawn here thinking you’re a hero, where you die on a runway getting shot trying to break a drug kingpin’s son out of jail. Good on the military here, but this whole thing feels so crazy to me in my safe white American suburb.
“ so I’m not really sure what the point you’re trying to make is.”
In addition to being the wrong model, the fact that a smaller car ended up #17 with all the larger, heavier vehicles is pretty amazing.
Even assuming the Model 3 and Model Y safety ratings are directly applicable to each other, #17 out of top 20 highest safety ratings is still pretty damn good, so I’m not really sure what the point you’re trying to make is.
Were they inside a Model 3 that was inside the Model Y that’s being reported on?
Your comment makes entirely too much sense, stop that.
This article, which was written on the heels of an article from the Atlantic, seems to be written with a false premise- that somehow US automakers are ONLY making huge, behemoth EVs. That is so far from the truth its ridiculous that an automotive journalist versus me wouldn’t at least do the slightest amount of…
It was interesting that NBC Nightly News reported this as “Passengers Survive Tesla Plunge” last night. It struck me that it would not have been reported this way with any other brand of car - I can’t imagine that it would be described as “Passengers Survive Dodge Plunge” for example. Am I wrong?
A possibly-benign interpretation is that they’re just trying to fill the gap until the $7500 IRA EV tax credit/rebate/whatever activates on Jan 1.
Maybe only for Japan, but Japan is a very distant 3rd in automotive sales (1/10th the size of pack leaders; China and US combined). This strategy suggests a circling of the wagons and only serving the home country if they get left behind in the electric market that other countries are pursuing.
Is there any valid reason to actually have so much animosity toward Markle? She just seems like, I dunno, a person...I admit I don’t keep up on the British royal family in the way that someone like Clarkson does, but beyond the usual racism and sexism, is there really anything she’s done to inspire SO MUCH vitriol?
This is the answer I was looking for. I had no idea they could arrest you even if you passed every test. Thank you taking the time to write an answer with information that is useable, unlike others who only are interested in bashing others.
I think his point is that there is a very good chance the Tesla that caused this crash was being operated by a human driver, not FSD.
This article is going ‘round and ‘round based on a mention in GM’s report, but nowhere does it say WHAT GM is doing in regards to Tesla vehicles.
for the record, this is the GM that went bankrupt in 2009.
Do we have any detail on what level of work this is? I mean, I go to my local mom and pop shop for service on my Tesla (wheel alignment, etc). Does that mean they are quietly repairing Teslas too?
because Toyota is doing everything possible to not go all in on EVs
I would buy this car if it came in full EV form. I’m not buying any more cars with an internal combustion engine, PHEV or no.
It’s not the same plug as Europe. Also, just because it was legally mandated in Europe doesn’t mean that it’s the right choice for the US.
