- No physical controls for convenience functions.
It’s not just the sight that’s a problem - they conduct the sound of the trains on the tracks and the sound of blowers directly into the yards of unlucky home-owners and their neighbors as well as the direct vibration of the train passage. Not much different that anyone operating heavy machinery in your basement 24/7.
OK, let’s forget for a moment that they are rich. Some trepidation is warranted.
Ford has had 7 recalls since January 1.
for things like cars catching fire, seatbelts not being properly attached, rolling away, fire again, rolling away again, driveshafts falling the fuck off.
but yeah, tesla’s speakers not being quite loud enough is a mortal fucking sin.
I’m no Tesla Stan, but this is a stupid thing to criticize them for. Wouldn’t the boombox itself serve as an effective auditory warning that an EV is approaching? If it’s louder than the statutory warning noises that should make it even more effective. Probably one of those cases where the letter of the law…
Or, you know, press the defrost button in the app?????
I don’t see how this is much different from a door that is frozen shut on any other car. On one car I had in the past, the door handle broke off when trying to open a frozen door.
I agree in theory, but disagree in practice. The reality is most people who drive these vehicles will test the features and as they get comfortable they use them inappropriately. You can tell them the car can’t drive itself, BUT when their experience is that the car can in fact drive itself they are going to let it do…
The powers that be at Jalopnik ran the analytics and found that anti-Tesla/Musk articles drive clicks.
I also find it amusing how there are always 10x “cue the Elon cult” comments to 1 actual Elon stan.
*Theoretically* it provides more safety to people (and those around them) who already refuse to pay attention to driving.
which begs the question: “Why the hell are these not EVs then?” it’s literally the perfect use case for EVs since idling does not waste energy like it does in an ICE.
“Tesla should probably just tell its customers that its cars are in perpetual beta.”
As far as it goes, Musk actually does have a point about the Mustang EV. Biden celebrating Ford for making electric vehicles in Mexico is pretty absurd. Has Biden also thanked Apple for all those iPhone manufacturing jobs?
Elon is certainly a goof for even caring what that old hack says, and yet, he’s absolutely right to call Biden out for being a cheerleader for GM and Ford EV efforts while ignoring the elephant in the room.
Yeah this is a bad article. I generally defend the writers here, but this one is rough.
I think the petition and uproar about it is silly, but you’re totally right that this article is either incredibly poorly researched OR purposely misleading. Maybe both.
Well documented comment that explains the issue at hand contrary to the narrative that was purposed in the original article, and no one has recognized this at the time I write this. A perfect example of the microcosm media finds itself in today. Too many opinions in journalism and not enough facts or digging to find…
Not to mention identifying charging infrastructure as a major hurdle to EV adoption, then spending billions on infrastructure that was outdated before it was even installed. All while ignoring the company with very nearly more deployed than all other combined and definitely more than the next 5. A company that is…
After a short time with the Model 3, I didn’t miss the instrument cluster. Looking down to the right is just as fast as looking straight down. You can’t look at the dash at the same time as the road. Moving your eyes down and right is exactly as fast as moving down.
