It might not be a hoax. But it might be what I suspected: the driver pressed the gas pedal thinking it was the brake pedal.

The letter says nothing about what makes Toyota's vehicles more vulnerable than other vehicles. Is there another one?

The main point I got from this is that sports cars should not be hybrids and hybrids should not to be sporty.

I'm pretty sure Elon is by far the biggest shareholder of the company so it'll be a bit harder for others to complain about this. The DOE loan wasn't closed until late January 2010, so the money being used isn't actually tax payer money.

@Kuro: Not true from what I know. A NASIOC forum guy did a test and was able to stop the ES350 (same car the CHP officer drove) by putting it to neutral. He was a bit confused by the shifter with the neutral label on the left, so he thought the upshift was the neutral position and kept trying to use that to get to…
