Yep. Vic was so sad and pathetic setting up his desk at the new job. The only picture he had was of Lem, and had to fold that photo in half because Shane was on it. So his family was gone and his only friend left was a dead guy. And Mackey deserved it.
Oh absolutely! That’s easily in my top 5, maybe 3, shows of all time. I don’t know how I forgot that one. Maybe because “Ozymandias” was so great and kind of overshadows “Felina” when looking back at the final stretch of that show as a whole. Some people thought that finale tied things up too neatly, but I loved it.
I loved the Shield. A fitting ending for Mackey.
Even Apple couldn’t invent an iphone in 1994, because there were too many pieces missing. Some of them probably dreamed of it, sure. But they had to go through the iterations, while also waiting for the infrastructure - broadband, GPS, 3G and 4G - to catch up, all of which were years away.
Gordon framed (opened and closed) the episode about his death. I liked this one framing Joe. I was very moved by where he landed. It would’ve been too sad for me to worry about him and not know if he was okay. All of the stuff around the room and him staring at the tarot card was a bit heavy but it was nice to see him…
This show deserved a better audience than a network full of Walking Dead fans, still AMC gave it a good run and I think H&CF proved it was worth that faith and turned into one of the finest Dramas on Television today.
I’m really struggling to come up with a series finale that stuck the landing as well as this show did. Six Feet Under and The Shield both come to mind, but I think this episode (or episodes) has them beat.
When the sign lit up, tears started shooting out of my eyes. It was such an unexpected flourish for this show, yet so perfect . And Joe’s smile at the end! To see him at peace with himself was so damn good to see. God, this finale. So many little unexpected moments, all borne of love. Just a fabulous, fabulous ending.
No hyperbole, that was one of the most beautiful endings to a series that I’ve ever seen. It will stick with me for a long time.
Haley’s review of Star Trek: Generations was succinct, hilarious and spot-on.
I started sobbing when the imaginary Phoenix logo appeared over Cameron and Donna’s heads, and didn’t stop until Joe broke into a serene, finally-at-peace smile while surveying his classroom. I hope shows like Halt and Catch Fire become the rule, not the exception.
Only 21 posts. The third episode of the last season with new players has 244.
Watched this tonight after coming home from Blade Runner 2049. I am a fucking trainwreck right now, holy cow.
One of the most beautifully done, honest, and emotionally devastating episodes of television I’ve ever seen.
It’s a little upsetting Euron is still fighting with Cersei, my 2nd favorite moment from the episode was his ‘Fvck this shit! Peace Out’ moment. At least I’ll always have Littlefinger on the verge of tears when realizing that he wasn’t slippery enough to worm his way out of that one.
