The same reason that millions of Jews were hauled off to concentration camps with nary a violent rebellion or angry resistance. Merely sad, silent acceptance.

I’m not sure what his pet bird has to do with it.
But..but...but, I have been told for 25 years that the Democratic Party is the only way toward real, measured, pragmatic progress and to eschew more “radical” left wing ideas.
WHAT
It’s not bad basketball we were watching. It was great defense. All the great teams from the past: the Jordan’s Bulls, Magic’s Lakers, Bird’s Celtics, Isaiah’s Pistons, and Stark’s Knicks were all amazing defensive ball clubs.
This a dumb opinion backed up by zero facts or data.
Depends on who and how the Democrats run in 2020. If they continue to shove status quo pragmatist down our throats and run an identity politics-centric campaign rather than focus on jobs and the economy, then yes, Donald Trump will win a second term.
My point is that you can still address social issues such as BLM, LGBT rights, reproductive rights, immigration, while also addressing the economic angst of working white people. The urban minority poor and rural white poor have more common ground than either realize. Let’s be a big tent party again rather than…
This type of thinking is why the Democrats lost.
Agreed.
But that one issue Bernie was addressing was really the only issue people cared about in this election. Clinton was forced to address it by Bernie, paid lip service to it, and lost.
Yet, the white working class voted for Obama. Twice. It’s not about race. It’s the economy, stupid. And Clinton did little to address those concerns.
This is so fucking right on. I wish more people like you populated this space.
Yup. And Bernie too.
This is exactly why we need a legitimate third party.
Oh, now it’s MY President Trump?
Perhaps that the rub. The Democrats have never had an answer for the working class that they sold out.
My guess is we agree on more things than we disagree.
Globalism and free trade were and are an effort by the rich to break local (national) trade unions. The Dems (Clintons and Obama) signed right on rather than stand up for the working class.
