It's because the pound is weakening so rapidly. Basically, what we used to hand over £400 for is now worht more than that. The uS wouldn't be affected, because their currency isn't weakening at the same rate as the pound.

@CartBlanche2: Nearly all the reviewing was done prior to its general release, so their experience with multiplayer would have been limited to LANs or small closed online networks - not XBL.
