Yup. Thank you for not laying this at the feet of the Trump administration and leaving it at that. Along with most of what this administration actually does, this kind of shit would be happening in any Republican regime. Too many people are ignorant of that political reality.

Quite so. More than anything, capitalism is the enemy: of life, of social equity, of racial justice, damn near everything.

Think about how evil you’d have to be to knowingly contribute to the death and suffering of hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people who are alive today, as well as the extinction of countless species and the probable decline of civilization as we know it within a few generations, all to be just a little

I do that on the bus so that nobody takes the seat next to me. Works 99% of the time. But that 1%? Oh man.

“Damn you capitalism” may not be useful, but understanding the functions of capitalism in a system like this can make a big difference.

I understand that for some (most?) people, an engagement ring is not only a physical representation of your love, but also a status symbol meant to convey the kind of bride you fancy yourself to be.

Humanity as a species seems to have an issue with long-term thinking: we only seem capable of seriously dealing with a problem when it is literally burning the house down around us.

I think he meant more as “this is merely a microscopic symptom of a much larger, systemic issue and this symptom will only change in the way the larger one will: imminent disaster”.

Relative to profits, wages have been stagnant for about four decades. An anecdote about wages of a few individuals doesn’t change that.

took the words right out of my soul. The model for modern gaming,(much like everything in america) is predatory. Unfortunately with capitalism being the gospel that it is here everything is morally relative based on how profitable it is.

Arctic is burning. Amazon is being cut down at an incredible rate. Hurricanes are dropping more water as the climate changes. Unplanned Medical services can financial cripple a large chunk of Americans. Wages haven’t gone up in years. And I got an headache.

Cool Ranch, of course, though the true Dorito lover prefers the Taco flavor.
