My graduate department's machine shop is run by a lifelong Pittsburgher. He sounds EXACTLY like this. It's a hard accent to imitate, but it's very unique.
Yeah, soul food originated because we had the scraps. It's a testament to black people that we were able to make deliciousness out of yard bird, assorted pig parts, and cheap veggies.
Admittedly, I'm new to Pittsburgh (moved here last August for grad school), but I picked up that the two or three remaining black neighborhoods had pretty good senses of community. I definitely felt more welcome in the black neighborhoods than the mostly Jewish neighborhood where I reside.

Where in Arizona? I'm outside Phoenix now and the struggle is real. I love the sunsets and mountains too! I didn't get why anyone would willingly do outdoorsy things until I lived here. But yeah, the sprawl and lack of diversity are getting to me.
Yeah, I'd say the same argument applies for late night talk shows as well. There are so many other mediums for comedy now and the interviews always consist of canned anecdotes and/or PR material.
