Have Jeep, will travel.

I have done well for myself, but this is Los Angeles. A condo in a decent neighborhood is half a million dollars, gas, food, everything else is equally expensive. Does it make me an asshole for living where fuel prices are high and not caring about it because fuck it, I want to drive my Jeep? Prius doesn’t climb rocks

Yup and every 4cyl TJ had leaking exhaust manifolds haha.

I will say though, most every Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge dealer I’ve been to has either been a shithole with horrible serive, or just horrible service. I’m not on the “anti dealership” bandwagon by anymeans, I spent 20 years working in them, but its not just ONE dealer I guess its common in domestic brands. Albeit Jeep is

Haha nope. She doesnt do manual trannys......

I had to have the left head replaced for the coolant jacket casting issue, but aside from that, my Jeep has been pretty damn reliable, except for shit that I’ve broken wheeling. I was smart though, I got a manual trans. I trust chryslers automatic transmissions as much as a vegas hooker with track marks telling me

If FCA designs it right, it could work fantastic. If they fuck it up, it will be a nightmare junk heap. All i know is my 2014 GLI has about 90% of its torque by 2100 rpm. While its no pontiac 455, with a tune and down pipe my 2.0 is about 300 or so wheel torque. If Jeep can manage something close and do it right it

I think it was even available in the 3rd gen Camaro for a year or so. Haha junk.

Yeah but those of us thay do use them......

Dont think because I have a Jeep pic doesnt mean I dont know. I work for a manufacturer that deals in such things, plus I’ve owned a few of them. My current is a 2014 GLI. Fuel sensitivity issues, carbon issues, injector and pump issues, etc. They seem to plauge every manufacturer of a direct injection and turbo

I know, but its a GM engine, not a historical Jeep engine, so it makes no sense to use the Iron Duke name as it was associated with every shitty GM car haha.

In theory, this isnt a 1980s Mistubishi Starion or a 930 where a turbo motor has nothing in the basement until you hit 4k rpm. My GLI with the EA888 GEN 3 has plenty of bottom end torque, even more so now that Ive fucked with it with software and a downpipe and exhaust. Torque and HP always cross at 5252. So if you

They did, but only a couple of years, and the GM Buick V6. Still GM engines and it would make no sense to use its moniker on a new engine.

Hurricane was Willys, he said Iron Duke. That shit pile was all GM.

I’m up there once a month for business and yup, the roads are all pretty bad there too.

Huh? With power comes torque, and honestly the Pentastar is basically a 300 hp engine once you change the exhaust. Besides, it helps when you’re tryng to move a chunk of iron over a boulder on 37s......

That was GM

I have no doubt that a turbo 4 would be wonderful. Power, and bottom end torque. However I would have some serious issues with reliability long term. Its no big secret how well, er, or not small high strung engines with DI and turbos are holding up long term.

If it gets hot, the steel barrels will expand at a different rate than the piston which is aluminum, increasing bore to piston clearance and allowing a ton of blowby into the engine case.

I had a bug that did this. Around town it was fine, on the highway for 45 minutes it would start dumping oil and billowing blowby. Religiously. Did it twice and I stopped at the same offramp. 20 years ago I gave up on having an old car for a daily driver.

1st gear: Trucks and SUVs will always sell. People like me who give zero fucks about the price of gas will always drive them. How cheap is gas really anyway? I just spent $3.30 yesterday for 91. Sure its off of the $5.xx peak we paid a few years ago but still.
