Every engineers dream. Telling the bean counters to fuck off.

Well, being that Jalopnik has absolute fuck all for content, your opinion amounts to the same.

If anyone has ever had an old VW beetle or bus with a 36 or 40hp engine, the Chevette would be a rocket. There used to be a 25HP beetle and bus too...... and buses were rated to carry a ton IIRC

Foxtrot Alpha exists because we needed something to read on Jalopnik that was intelligent, required thought, and was original. Besides, who doesn’t like articles on the Military?

We may be running a little behind schedule at the moment, but looks like we’re heading there. Soon as Skynet becomes self aware we’re screwed.

4th gear: The numbers are so ridiculous amd wide spread anymore they lack the feeling of any meaning.

True. I also enjoy Steve Lehtos posts. But for car stuff around here, the pickings are slim, likely due to all of Gawker Medias budgets going to lawsuit settlements judgement payouts or litigation fees.

Remember when Jalopnik had actual GOOD and informative articles? Andrew with Truck Yeah and Tyler with Foxtrot Alpha are pretty much carrying the dead weight as best they can.

1st gear: Honestly, it takes very little leg work by plaintiffs counsel to bring a suit like this. File a suit with a ridiculous demand, then try and open up discovery and look for documents. Assuming that MB is cheating, just because they sell a diesel isn’t really good standing to bring a suit, but they always find

I would love to have one in an old pick up to cruise around, and you know, move a house if I had too haha. Love that growl.

Equal length into the collector.

I also posted a video of an 8v53 Detroit Diesel. Nothing like a two stroke diesel to strike fear in peoples hearts haha.

The other nomination I have is the 2 stroke V8 Detroit Diesel. This is an 8v53, there is an 8v71, and an 8v92. Number designates cylinder count, the second number is cubic inches PER cylinder. 8v71 had a blower and a turbo charger. These are nasty.

Sorry man. I don’t think anything can beat the sounds coming out of this LS7 with an 8 into 1 header/collector.

1st gear: The Takata ghost will live on forever. Those bags are floating around in parts houses, junk yards, used cars that have been shipped over seas, etc. They will never be able to replace them all.

No way in hell would I try to DIY this in my garage. The subframe and axles are a bitch, then you get to take off the diff, then the oil pan.

Gets 13mpg, and I give zero fucks about the price of gas just like you. Over $5 a gallon in Los Angeles? Oh well, still going to the mountains. Don’t assume everyone cares about gas mileage and wants to drive an appliance, life is too short.

I love people who are “internet experts” when it comes to car repairs and costs. Tavarish is the perfect example. People like yourself and I that deal with it on a daily basis and know what actual shop overhead is, how complex new cars are, and often times its opening a can of worms anytime the hood is opened. Reason

They are Xdrive, the oil pan has the front differential bolted to it, and the passenger axle shaft runs through the pan. So to drop the pan you have to remove all that, and hang the engine and remove the subframe to get to it all in the first place.

I would almost guarantee that thing needs $5k in work. Axle boots, $1500 pan gasket, tail lights, cooling system issues, oil leaks, suspension bushings, Xdrive chain, window regulators, and thats if its never been overheated..... The owner said it needs nothing probably because he hasnt had it looked at.
