The problem is that government takes money for the roads, spends it on everything else, then asks for more money for the roads. If people are fighting it, then they are getting wise to the scam.

“died by suicide” has to be one of the sloppiest phrases I’ve heard in awhile. You commit suicide or you kill yourself. Suicide is a motive, not a method.

It has more to do with labor disputes early in the 20th century. Government regulations have largely usurped the need for them by requiring things that the unions were asking for.
