History is full of examples of “barbarians” from the north laying waste to “great” civilizations.  I’d be perfectly fine with becoming the United States of Canada.

Biden’s only appeal ever was as a wacky uncle. The problem with wacky uncles (I have a couple) is that if you need to get serious with them, you realize they didn’t think they were being wacky this whole time, and they’re insulted you think their behavior is a problem. You’ve laughed at their jokes for so long, why

Right? There are a few sites where I’ve whitelisted them (GMG included) only to be immediately met with auto-playing video, broken layouts, and worse.

I’m not saying that the applications and protocols aren’t great improvements, just that the companies maintaining a death grip on them are unnecessary and actively harmful. How often do you hear of an “improvement” to Google or Facebook that is just a transparent attempt to extract more data to sell to advertisers?

Unfortunately, he’s surrounded himself with warmongering bigots.  He may not be clever or connected enough, but a guy like Bolton may be.  I worry our best hope is in his fear of commitment.  Trumpy talks a big game, but he’s proven himself too much of a coward to actually make the first move.

To buy now, or wait for Gamestop’s inevitable going-out-of-business sale....

“Look how much revenue our gold-plated apples are making compared to everyday oranges!”

It seems like most of the big names in tech disruption just developed something that should be a universal, publicly available protocol, and then either exploited workers or abandoned privacy protections to cash in. Twitter’s just text messages with a few bells and whistles. Facebook’s just email with a few bells and

You can’t kid about this administration. Donny-boy’s been drooling over the prospect of a terrorist attack or a big glorious war from day one. The only problem so far is that the terrorist attacks have all been his supporters, and the acts of war have all come from his financial overseers. So of course he’s gonna try

Hemingway would have admired the storytelling prowess of that tweet.

I’ve yet to find a notebook or note-taking system that works well for me. I’ve got dozens of them floating around with all sorts of different attempts in them, but I always lose track of what I put where.

I’d love to hear some opinions on this, too. I saw a Kickstarter recently for an “eternal” notebook, but I haven’t been able to figure out if there are any other similar alternatives, or how reliable their claims are. This is the first time I’ve heard the phrase “stone paper” though, so maybe that’ll lead to some

Looks like she’s only doing repairs as of this year.  :-(

I’m increasingly convinced the Republican worldview is driven by their porn-watching habits.  You know the alt-right was into cuckolding videos long before they started throwing the phrase around as an insult.

They’re the literal incarnation of every 80's comedy villain trope. I’d expect to see characters like them in any John Candy or Rodney Dangerfield movie.

What’s sad is that’s the most charitable reading, and it still makes zero sense considering in the same sentence he says we should stop talking about going to the moon.  A refueling/resupply waystation on or even around the moon would require *going to the moon.*

Terraforming’s a good point.  The only terraforming we’ve proven capable of is making our perfectly suited environment unlivable.  And yet Elon and Jeffy-poo are convinced we can just set up shop on Mars.  Maybe figure out how to fix our current planet first?

But how do I know you’re not talking about the Star Wars music scene?

The CPD corruption is definitely the real story here. Whatever Smollett did, in the long run he’s one dude and this is one incident. But the police conduct shows systematic corruption all the way up to the mayor’s office that isn’t surprising, but is starkly highlighted.

An imminent harm is not merely a fear of future harm, no matter how great the fear and no matter how great the likelihood of the harm, but is one that, from appearances, must be instantly confronted and addressed.
