I beat Madarame. I think that fight was a bit of bullshit because I think I only won because his early attacks didn't KO any key members of my party and so I was able to recover properly and while I didn't sleepwalk my way through it I at least felt like I had a fighting chance.

Good to know the history behind the design at least. I still don't get why they haven't ditched what is obviously a frustrating mechanic, but it is what it is.

The one design choice about this game that I really do not like is that when Joker dies you get a game over. It feels so bad to have everyone at a decent life total and then just straight up lose because the enemy hits Joker with his weak element twice in a row. I don't understand why that's a thing they decided to do.
