Could a thriller be created without bodily harm? Or perhaps the question should be “could a thriller be created without *the threat of* bodily harm?” It’s a genuine literary question, and I’d be curious how it is answered.

Yeahhh, that was quite the cherry on the shit cake. Makes me think I won’t bat an eye when I hear he died in a prison incident.
I know you’re trolling, but the guy removed the plastic protectors from these women’s genitalia. That’s not at all “a tiny bit like” stripping, modeling for an art class etc etc.
I dunno. That figure is straight from Michelangelo. I love it.
I think Twitter is very unlikely to reach the people who need the info most (the elderly). This was a design fiasco of massive proportions.
Your post is... kind of racist. I’m the last person to defend Saudi Fucking Arabia, but 1) there are all kinds of animal competitions and pageants in the US and Western Europe, from country fair level to national, so it means nothing. 2) you’re referencing a nasty “camel-fucker” slur in your post. And none of the…
Quote from this person: “Under international law, Israel is an illegal state” — you think that’s a fact?
You didn’t address my point at all, attacking instead what you perceive to be my identity.
I love that city, and I don’t hate it as a name. However, exposing your kids to a thousand puns seems... unwise?
Glad to know some of us early readers are still around! Hope things are going decently, Mathilda!
Nerdy, I don’t know what you got yourself into, but my heart was racing reading your story. You’re the best.
I worry you’re right, but hope you’re wrong. I hope he spends time behind bars and loses all his money. But I particularly hope he is deeply, profoundly, hopelessly miserable. I don’t subscribe to redemption ideas on these kinds of crimes.
Exactly. The linked article mentions a few of these adult worries — the child support payments, selling real estate, lawyers, etc etc. I LOVE IT. It’s no punishment, of course, but I relish his misery. Can only hope that he also gets slapped with the law and loses all his money.
The only joy I get from these stories is imagining the delicious panic of the prestigious serial rapist/abuser in the days and moments when they know it’s coming, but it’s not yet out there. Mmmm.
Thank you for the benefit of the doubt. I DO think that this will provide weapons to reactionaries to attack all and any feminisms, all and any minorities. They already do, but it’s painful when they do it with our own weapons (see “the strange comfort of victimhood”).
We’re speaking on different levels. My point was about the conceptual tools of the article, not its specific targets. The whole point was that the tools of critique can be turned against other, more vulnerable, targets. But I get it, this is not a point that can be raised here without friction.
Disabled people. Queer members of the family. Etcetera
“the strange comfort of victimhood” is a weapon that works in every direction, and I don’t think it’s wise to hand it to the critics of the march. But perhaps you meant something else.
I’m calm, but I do want to say this: there is no accusation in this piece that won’t / can’t be used against minority groups, whatever they are, and however deep in the hierarchy of oppression they may be found.
There we go, it was the parents’ fault. Fuck off.
