Not sure Ms. Johnson is that free to make choices. I’m sure she has no money and she had to say yes to this grift. Sigh.

Thank you for answering - that makes sense.

Out of curiosity, why do you say POC women are “especially” expected to be on the pill?

critiquing the critique is also ok

“Is this not the same Taylor Swift that refuses to comment to the press or travel without an entourage of security? Strange, because she sets up a scenario where she believes an average Twitter user could realistically carry on an engaging dialogue with a pop star.”

“the tree died in quarantine” — damn, the parallel with the encamped migrant kids is more poignant than I expected.

Stories of shooting oneself in the foot when everything was great in your life (this one, Eliot Spitzer etc) are, along with stories of shameless grifters, the most interesting stories of all. It just sucks when they hurt others’ stories of victimization, such as this very stupid case.

“the isolating and sadly crucial science of preventing myself from lying on the floor in a fetal position and never getting back up has been my life’s most invisible work.”

Yep, does not compute.

I’ve been persuaded Tippi. I wish we could go back in time and undo this monstrosity

nevermind

This is the most adorable comment I’ve ever read. Put a smile on my face.

Had the same reaction. I’m assuming his native language is Romanian or Russian (or both), and he pulled off no small feat.

Your mom is an idiot.

That, and mental illness itself, are some of the things that make me shrink from the “it’s capitalism’s fault” theory. It feels so reductive.
