I think it was a turning point, not THE turning point.
I think it was a turning point, not THE turning point.
“Worthiness” is completely dependant on how many levels of Paladin you have. To lift Mjolnir you need 12+ Levels in Paladin, and of course that implies you’re Lawful Good with 17+ Charisma. That’s all.
I tend to look at it similar to a One Ring deal. It depends on intent. Thor wields Mjolnir to protect the Nine Realms. Vision wields the Hammer to. . . prove his worth? And Cap wields it to save the world. I’d also say it’s tied in to if they WANT power. Sam doesn’t want power, so the One Ring has no real temptation…
Yeah, I think the ‘Are you the god of hammers?’ speech he got from Odin really kinda knocked his head open a bit.
I don’t entirely agree with that.
I mean what were they doing at the time? Playing a game in a penthouse?
Tony’s journey in just the opposite direction (from contemptuously blowing off politicians to insisting that the team needed to be accountable to higher authority) serves as a counterpoint that nicely highlights the issue.
Perhaps. I don’t have a strong opinion on it one way or the other. I certainly think it could be argued that Winter Soldier is when he stops taking orders and starts working for himself. I’m not the one to argue it, though. :D
For me its not about feeling superior, its more than great movies can still be somewhat predictable, you know the general beats and characters normally act like, you know, normal people do. But a bad movie is a true wild card, people do things that don’t make any sense, so many strange decisions are made, and that…
I think a more accurate name would be Gendry The Rower.
There was so many things wrong with the Dorne stuff, but I will forever be annoyed with their decision to have Oberyn refer his father instead of his mother as the previous ruler of Dorne. The Dornish practiced absolute primogeniture, so that change served zero purpose!
I would say it became even more pronounced after that point. Now that they have passed up the books, you can tell they are scrambling to make sense of everything and keep people engaged. And they think it is impossible for anything to happen in the universe without it resulting in torture, rape, or murder. And look, I…
I think it is because this is all the show knows. I am starting to believe more and more as time goes on that the political intrigue and character building was all accidental or only existed to shuffle the audience from one scene of hideous physical or sexual violence to another.
I know this is a heartfelt position on Chastain’s part but I must still note the deftness with which she folded in a plug for X Men Dark Phoenix into her denunciation. I’m not being sarcastic I am honestly impressed.
It also removes any mention of Tolkien’s dear friend Tom Bombadil, although most people call that an improvement.
If I ever see this movie (and I almost certainly won’t), it would be to see how they handle this scene.
I voted for JB Pritzker this past year. Biden might as well be Jesus H. Christ resurrected by comparison.
At that one of the young women sneered at him. “DO YOU KNOW WHAT COLLEGE I GRADUATED FROM?!?”
ESPN has a good explanation this morning.
This. And there is a reason why the silmarillion rights are so tightly guarded. The estate has no say in what happens to hobbit/Lotr adaptations. Owned by a completely different group.
I dunno. If a person’s life is interesting enough to make a good movie, there’s no need to lie about it (I’m looking at you, Shadowlands!).
And if it’s not, why make that movie at all?
