Nixon, who is 51, has never held public office before—not that that really matters in a post-Trump world.

Nothing from Under the Bushes? Weird. But because this is GBV, a perfect list anyhow!
Awesome list! I would have added “Motor Away” but I suppose this exercise is useless if some discretion can’t be used with Alien Lanes and Bee Thousand.
Maybe Pollard’s head is just a radio tuner, fixed on the wavelength where the Universe’s background noise echoes all humanity’s discarded poetry back at us?
I lied. One more: “I’ll Replace You With Machines” from Earthquake Glue.
This is truly excellent. Well done!
Gold Star for the A.V. Club!!!
Doesn’t mention Alan Arkin, Terry O’Quinn, or Jon Polito either. :(
Bruce would have come off as too winking and postmodern. You need that character played completely straight.
Don’t forget Jon Polito! “It’s ALLLLLLLL part of the show!”
Terry O’Quinn is another character ringer who kills it in a small role and his lead-in to the film is a great way to sell how much is now at stake here. Although of course that is topped by his wonderful delivery of “It WILL fly!”
I love pretty much everything about this movie. Men wearing fedoras firing tommy guns! Jennifer Connelly! Nazi Jetpack Propaganda Cartoons! Timothy Dalton in full smarm-mode! Jennifer Connelly! That bit where the FBI agent and Paul Sorvino suddenly realise they’re both shooting at Nazis together! Zeppelins! Zeppelins…
Only 62% Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes! How’s that possible? I don’t know of anyone who dislikes this film. Even Kevin Smith, who tends to be quite critical of comic-book movies, considers it to be one of the all-time best.
Everything you said is true and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
I’m not going to fight you. I’m going to help you fight people. In fact, I’ll raise you. The Rocketeer is one of the best MOVIES ever. Every single action in film informs character decisions and drives the plot forward. It’s beautiful aesthetically, and it’s god damned gorgeous narrative wise.
I loved both the Rocketeer and The Shadow when they came out. I remember being super bummed that the Rocketeer didn’t have a toy line associated with it and that shitty, shitty Dick Tracy movie had TONS of equally shitty toys to promote it.
I gave a damn ; ;. /comfort The Rocketeer. I gave a damn.
I’ve been told that if someone dies and their dog sees their corpse, the dog will be able to tell that they are dead, and won’t feel like they’ve been abandoned. However, if the dog isn’t able to see the corpse for whatever reason, then the dog will still expect them to come back, and eventually feel abandoned. Either…
I went to a fan event double feature of Force Awakens and Last Jedi yesterday. At the end of Jedi people were starting to file our and the dedication to our Princess came up and everyone stopped and applauded and I teared up. I love fandom so much, seriously.
Oh man, i have so many feelings about this. Maybe Gary was happy at the time, but what is he feeling now? Did he know she died? Or did he think he’d been abandoned? And has that changed after seeing her again? Or did he realize it wasn’t really her? And if he did think it was her, would it be fair or ethical to keep…
