I am biased (my daughter is named Eleanor for both Eleanor Roosevelt and Eleanor of Aquitaine) but it really is a cool name - just be ready for misspelling by everyone who doesn’t get how ea makes the middle syllable. Ada Lovelace is a nice suggestion, but along the same lines of women of STEM like Ada and Marie might

Eleanor (for Acquitane, Roosevelt and the initial of one of her grandmother's) Anne (for something a little easier and to honor the other grandmother) is my daughter's name. I'm obviously biased but it is a pretty cool combination.

Hey Copper! My sister’s middle name is my great aunt’s first name. As a kid, that aunt was the embodiment of love and acceptance to me. As a woman, I realized that she is the strongest person I ever knew. My son’s middle name is my grandmother’s maiden name because I wanted to keep that side of his history present in

Eleanor makes me think of both Austen’s Eleanor and queen Elionor of Aquitaine, so YAY! That is one great name. My suggestion for her middle name would be Anne, after Anne of Austria. Another queen, another hell of a woman.

30 weeks!! Congratulations!!

A a German, I can think of Sophie, for Sophie Scholl, a university student and political activist who fought against the nazis in the “White Rose”. Or Rosa, for Rosa Luxemburg, a famous socialist philosopher. Both were murdered, though, so maybe not the happiest names. Or Chaika Grossman, a Jewish Polish partisan,

I like Maeve, Irish queen who has a lot of stories and myths about her. It’s old enough to be new again.

Aw, my grandmother’s name was Eleanor and had I ever had a daughter, I would have named her Eleanor too. Best wishes!

*I believe her middle name may have been Louise? Or maybe that’s mothers?? heh. but also maybe too old fashioned but how can you go wrong with the classics :)

I love Eleanor! I named my first baby after Eleanor of Aquitaine. A true medieval bad-ass lady.

How about Eleanor Maxine (after Rep. Maxine Waters) “Reclaiming my time” is the best statement/meme to come out of Congress in decades!

Elizabeth, of course. So she'll persist!

Yay for Eleanor! That was always a favorite of mine, since Eleanor of Aquitaine was one of my heroines when I was growing up. As far as middle names go, maybe Anne? Several queens, plus Anne Shirley...

There are not enough Eleanor's out there in the world. That's an awesome name choice!

Eleanor is already the name of a badass, strong woman!  (Heck, if you type “elea” into the google search bar, it autofills pretty fast.)

Eleanor is beautiful!

Could go with Ada, after Ada Lovelace? One of the pioneers of what would become computing and foresaw a world where machines would be capable of increasingly creative, elaborate, and complex tasks to the point of being able to compete with humans.

Hey all, update on my tall girl/ shirt guy situation from last week:

Except that those two things are completely unrelated, and me getting an abortion does not put immunocompromised people in danger.

“Smote" works if your cousin is Balrog, I guess.
