Agreed - it’s the “personal relationship” with Jesus Christ that distinguishes Evangelicals from say, Catholics. Big “cosmic” stories of faith, suffering, martyrdom aren’t personal (“porn addiction? yeah, sure, I can relate.”). To that, I’d say The Passion of the Christ really stands out as an exception to the genre.
