Then explain why pulling the handbrake and locking the rear wheels causes the rear end to swap around, without steering deliberately to cause it. Try locking only your front brakes and going anywhere except dead straight ahead.

You are correct.
Actually that's more likely the other way around (rears locking you're more likely to spin). If fronts lock, it's like a massive understeer situation.
Nope, the sliding tired have less traction than the ones still rotating (static vs kinetic friction) so the car understeers (goes straight) with the rear tires providing the most drag (static friction). Rears locking gives oversteer and rotation.
Really? I would expect that with locked fronts and freewheeling rears then the rear has more grip than front so less chance of a spin?
So, locking the two front wheels won’t leave perfectly straight skid marks, but locking the rears will.... That has not generally been my experience. Nor anyone else’s, for that matter.
I’ll be curious to know what happened here. It IS very odd given the skid marks. A seasoned test driver (which the person driving this no doubt was... I would think) would generally know better than to stay on the brakes with the front wheels locked. Maybe the brake system did freak out and just lock up the fronts.

Looks like a baby accord coupe
Don’t really care about the Type-R. How about making some Honda Fit with a dang manual again!
It looks....almost identical to a Civic coupe that I saw in a Target parking lot earlier. Which made me stop and stare for a bit, having never actually paid attention to one. It’s certainly different from others in its class.
Best looking Civic in a while.
My wallet is ready! Also Mugen just one Honda America product, this van isn’t fair
Best looking wheels for the Civic in a long time. Appears like the test mule above has bolt holes for the stanchions that support a rear wing. Looks good even without it. Supposedly, the Si will come in the 2-door and 4-door models, while the Type-R is a European built 5-door hatchback model.
Finally someone objective on Jalopnik, Elon Musk is the kind of guy that wants to do a hundred things but he’s not thorough, just look at Tesla’s Power Pack. Where is it? He likes the attention because he brings easy money, he likes to make up news because they boost the company evaluations. But at the end of the day,…
