Easy - don’t show Trump. Write the show as everyone reacting to and coddling an unseen, infantile, arrogant force. The show isn’t about his idiocy but rather everyone accommodating and managing it - jockeying amongst themselves to be the last person in his ear before a major decision, stabbing each other in the back

I’d be fine with churches refusing to officiate gay weddings, so long as they’re willing to give up their tax-exempt status. Then again, I don’t think churches should be tax-exempt at all. Or at the very least, their books should be wide-open, and they need to demonstrate they provide a greater benefit to society than

Oh shit. This goes against the “Star Wars is for kids” comment I just made in the other thread about the manchild edit.

Man-babies. Important distinction: They have no intention of ever growing up.

The Star Wars movies are now officially for old people

Fun!

I’m game.

I’m pretty sure that playlist needs more Depeche Mode. I wanted to see them on their most recent tour, but I’m not gonna drive to Chicago for it either. So I guess I’ll do a shuffle thing too. It’s fun!

Listen, I’m just going to shuffle songs and see what happens with this thread.

Depeche Mode — Something to Do (live)
The Faint — Unseen Hand
Talking Heads — Life During Wartime (live)
Depeche Mode — Spacewalker
Foggy Mountain Boys — God Loves His Children
R.E.M. — At My Most Beautiful
Depeche Mode — Everytihng Counts (Long

I went with my five-year-old daughter to see the movie twice, and she’ll tell you in no uncertain terms that “the part where they save the horses” is her favorite. And it occurred to me: Star Wars is for kids; that part is for little kids.

Wasn’t that shitty Dracula Unbound movie the first attempt at this, and the Mummy was the “reboot” already? They’re only two movies in and already have almost as many “course corrections” as DC.

I looked up the cast of the movie shortly after reading the book many years ago, and I was so excited at the perfect casting that I jumped into the ocean and swam away.

ER, which loosed Clooney’s charm upon the world (on his second try; let’s not forget Baby Talk)

My buddy did the exact opposite and got a huge 4:3 TV, on a 4th floor apartment with no elevator. By the time he was moving it was so obsolete that we fought with him to leave it there because he could literally go to the Salavation Army and buy the exact same TV for $10 and none of us would kill our backs taking it

“Wakanda is an absolute shithole of a country!”

Yes.

“The Post”... of course it was good (didn’t really understand this site’s somewhat bad review).

This week I continued into my winter with Eric Rohmer with the first two of his Comedies and Proverbs. I have a natural tendency to retreat from good things, to not use them up at once, to save them for later. So watching such great movies as these, two a week, week after week, is a battle against my instincts!

It most certainly made a difference to the cast and crew, especially Ridley Scott. He wanted Plummer originally, but the studio foisted Spacey on him and tried to do more hype for an Oscar campaign before Spacey’s predatory crimes came to light. So on top of having an actor forced on him, that actor also turned out to
