The weird thing about Miller and DiMaggio is, despite being complete opposites: an intellectual and a jock, they were physically quite similar. Tall, skinny, prominent nose.

I found the theme song.
Isn’t Any Given Sunday the football movie with Al Pacino? Maybe you’ve confused that with The Last Boy Scout.
I hope you include Kate’s dance moves.
Whenever Ferry’s name comes up, I can’t help thinking of his cheeky but oh-so-appropriate nickname, courtesy of the British press - ‘Byron Ferrari’.
A 40% increase is nothing to sneeze at. Repeat the trick next year and they’ll have over 19m tuning in. Optimistic but not impossible. Maybe they should get Tarantino and Spike Lee to co-present something.
Well, two portly character actors, nicknamed ‘Skipper’, spending most of their time on an island set. I guess I can understand the confusion. The only problem was it caused me to question my own cognitive faculties. In fact, I’m still not sure I haven’t missed some obvious joke.
Gilligan’s Island ?!? Is this some internet in-joke of which I’m unaware, or just a dumb mistake? Or have I finally lost it, and my memory is completely shot? Did Don Adams play Gomez Addams? Were there really two different Darrens?
A lawyer named Petrocelli ? That rings a bell. Does he still live in a trailer out in Arizona? Probably not.
I expect that shipboard romance, Boaty McBoatface, to get a lot of votes.
Retro ‘50s, was what I thought.
That’s a great clip. But so sad - we lost Norm and Cosby’s still with us.
Nothing much to add, other than this is one of my all-time faves, and it is amazing that Audrey found her screen persona in her first big role. Also, I was a little dubious of the ice cream metaphor, until I remembered the famous scene on the Spanish Steps, then it all made sense! :)
Meanwhile, Ridley Scott thinks Wes is lazy. :)
RIP Mr. Poitier. “You take care. Ya hear?”
RIP. The trio of Last Picture Show/What’s Up Doc?/Paper Moon was such an amazing start, it was probably inevitable that it would be hard to follow up. But it should be noted that, while not a hit, Saint Jack, is of a similar quality, and the later films all had their moments of inspiration. Counting Targets, that’s…
RIP Papa Nez. You’ll be missed. Always my fave. Loved The Monkees when I was young and never outgrew them. Both the show and the music were great. Owned two of his solo albums (on LP!) way back: Infinite Rider on the Big Dogma and Live at the Palais. Really wish I had held on to them.
I haven’t seen LP yet, but that aside, this is how I would’ve ranked them as well. Which is weird, because these lists usually annoy the hell out of me.
Not a fan of Reality Bites, I’m guessing.
Royal Wedding also features the song with the greatest title ever - ‘How Could You Believe Me When I Said I Love You When You Know I’ve Been a Liar All My Life’.
