The stunts with the buses and the dump truck shown in the clip reel, are from The Burglars (1971), which used to play on TV now and then when I was growing up. Belmondo, the cool (what else?) jewel thief, Omar Sharif as a corrupt cop and Dyan Cannon was the shady lady complicating matters. It had a crazy-ass car

Back when smoking was cool.

It’s not a woke thing, it’s a term usually found in government reports, economic papers and official statements etc.

“our moon is not what we think it is.”

PPS, Cate is usually the best at whatever she tries.

Yes, I thought that was an odd take, too.

Hollywood has been making them since at least the 1950s, so you probably have a point. Then again, working with a score of proven bangers is certainly easier than starting from scratch.

I know I might sound naive, but what if Van is actually telling the truth. What if we take him at his word, and he really isn’t an anti-vaxxer and just believes you can’t force people to have vaccinations. You have to concede there’s an outside chance he isn’t an evil liar. I understand we live in a world where no one

His twitter feed has links to the venues for his recent gigs, that all have restrictions on who can attend. So for the time being, (and who knows how he’ll feel tomorrow), he seems to be fine with playing to vaccinated only audiences. Having complained for a year about the Northern Irish government cancelling his

Well, at least Van isn’t completely crazy, like his pal EC.

I’m really getting old and my eyes are failing me, because I honestly couldn’t tell the difference.

Good for her. Always loved that song. Strange it would become relevant again so many years later. Liked Todd’s take on it :

Even more Una. (Last one, I promise).

RIP Una, you really could move!

Thanks to those Cliff Richards movies popping up on TV, during rainy Sunday afternoons in my childhood, my first impressions of Una, was as a sexy young dancer!

Well it’s Hugo Pratt’s character not Miller’s, and according to Wikipedia, the name is Andalusian slang for ‘quick hands’. I suppose in Italian if you’re giving directions, the shortest way is also the quickest (la strada più corta), but I have no clue about Andalusian. And not much about comics either. I only know

Yeah, just looked it up, and Frank Miller apparently introduced this location to the DC universe. So he gets the credit, not Gunn. It’s popped up in numerous stories, so it’s a regular thing.

Corto Maltese? As comic book references go, that’s a pretty good one. Bravissimo!

Funny you should mention Crowe. Early in his career he played a gay character in another movie about a father/son relationship - The Sum of Us. The twist was that his dad, played by Jack Thompson, was completely supportive. I remember it being pretty good, but that was over 25 years ago.

Poor Alex! That episode was so traumatic it turned me off the show for good.
