They definitely do not understand that jokes are not real life. They think of a stand up set the same way you or I would treat a TED talk.

Speaking of being an absolute fucking moron, you do realize that when a comic makes a joke they aren’t necessarily making a statement of fact or opinion, right?

Subway is and always has been trash. The bread, the very foundation of a good sandwich, is just objectively awful.

I’ve always loved the argument that if you use something correctly but a bunch of other people use it incorrectly, that you are the one in the wrong. I mean why TF have any grammar rules at all then?

Jokes are not “inciting violence.” I know that point is too subtle for the average woke Kinja user. Again, this line of reasoning is exactly as flawed and stupid as the “video games cause mass shootings” argument.

LMFAO! So many “I never thought Mulaney was funny” MFers coming out of the woodwork all the sudden. Never liked Chappelle, never liked Mulaney. Happens every time.

With a take this spicy, and perfectly reasonable even if I don’t 100% agree, I cannot believe you are out of the grays.

This made me so hungry.

I feel like instead of getting mad over the latest celebrity bad take, we should just enjoy this brief period going into summer where Roe vs. Wade is still law and Republicans don’t control congress and COVID is “over.”

People always say “it’s accountability, not cancellation!” but nobody can give any kind of agreed upon parameters for what the “repercussions,” as you say, should be.

It is fucking WILD how quickly people turned on Chappelle, who is by any account, an objective legend in comedy. Because he told a handful of controversial jokes that were far less incendiary than the backlash would have you believe.

LOL, what? It was the woke mob that made a big deal out of a comic telling jokes. Of course he is still going to address the backlash in his routine. How TF are you going to ignore it when you have a bunch of people who have turned a handful of jokes into crimes against humanity continue to create outrage.

Wow, what a young and diverse group of people. I was expecting a bunch of burnt-out old white people in tattered American flag clothes who look like their biggest regret is they didn’t serve in ‘Nam.

LOL, right? Like instead of “reporting” on a non-issue, especially if they truly feel this is a grave injustice against trans people, they could be writing articles that celebrate all these queer and trans comics. Give them a platform instead of, ironically, giving more coverage to Chappelle.

But this isn’t about “disliking” someone. Stop with the disingenuous arguments. First of all, yes, it’s a perfectly acceptable response to say “if you don’t like the show, feel free to leave, if this comedy isn’t FOR YOU, feel free to leave.”

Jesus with this again. You woke Twitter fascists still don’t get it. It’s comedy. It’s allowed to be edgy. People are allowed to not like it. But you’re not allowed to tell other people they can’t like it. These are JOKES, people.

I’m a huge fan of Dave Chappelle. And I think the backlash is far out of proportion. I also think it’s ridiculous for people to focus their ire at a comedian when actual members of our government are passing laws and actually causing harm to the LGBTQ community, and not just making jokes.

I mean he’s probably (chillingly) right. Considering how badly Democrats are going to get trounced in the mid-terms. And that when we get a Republican president in 2024, it’s gonna be dark maga days for sure.

Similarly, I simply cannot grasp how Ted Cruz gets women. To vote for him.

I mean given the rise of the incel, men’s rights movement, and the baffling backlash to the metoo movement—and good, old fashioned misogyny—it’s pretty easy to figure out why.
