The letter’s tone is assholish in the extreme, agreed.

Are you under the impression that the Rockettes are some sort of inauguration tradition? Hell, Trump didn’t even want them until everyone else refused.

Do I think a dance company would blackball a dancer for refusing a performance due to political reasons? Yes. It sets a bad precedent. And, more importantly, it’s something dance companies don’t have to deal with if they don’t want to. You have ten dancers, all equally good, but one of them refused a performance and

Because they weren’t asked to by President Obama.

Realistically, probably not. There are lots of jobs but there are lots more dancers without jobs. Losing a pretty well paying job (by dance standards) would be a disaster for a lot of them with absolutely no guarantee that they would get something similar again. And that’s if they WEREN’T blackballed for walking out

The union can exist for its members but if the union’s collectively bargained contract allows for termination for refusing booked events, then the union has an obligation to inform its members of that fact.

Eh, I don’t know. If they have an employment contract that was bargained, then they have to adhere to the contract. The union does have an obligation to inform them of the fact that the employment contract allows the employer to terminate them if they refuse to do a booked event.

I dunno, I think some of their descriptions are pretty accurate:

It’s been mainly on the same trajectory it was pre-Brexit. Some indicators are a bit better and some are a bit worse, but for the most part thins mainly kept going the direction they had been heading. Which makes sense since there hasn’t actually been any changes yet and also the Bank of England responded to the vote

Exactly. Yellow for a cynical foul, but red is absurd.

He is, but he’s taking a break from fighting for a while so they’re going to have Nurmagomedov fight Tony Ferguson for an interim title so they don’t a) basically put the division on hold until McGregor comes back and b) lose Nurmagomedov since he said he’s not going to fight again for anything less than a title shot

For a long time, insurance was actually illegal because it was viewed as a form of gambling. Which it is.

I’ll reserve my outrage until there’s some actual proof given that this guy’s staged bullshit before.

I like that a list of 10 “surprising things made of plastic” includes “plastic chairs” and “plastic cutlery.”

Wait, are you saying that lip balm without petroleum jelly is going to cost $49?

Good point about bluetooth, I didn’t think about that.

Is the nav system actually something desirable? Seriously, I see people use the lack of a nav system as a negative but I’ve never seen a nav system as convenient and accurate as my phone.

Meh, the CIA’s job has historically been to tell the president what he wants to hear and provide intelligence cover for whatever policy directions have already been decided on. The president sidelining the CIA when it gives him intelligence that doesn’t support what the president wants to do or his preconceived

In this particular case, no. This wasn’t a case like FSU where the cops dicked around, stalled, gave information to the football department so they could help cover it up, etc. Everything was investigated promptly and by all account pretty thoroughly.

While some certainly had roadblocks thrown up in their way, the majority of non-voting POC simply didn’t vote. Turnout among POC was massively down even in states where no voter ID or other suppression tactics were used as well.
