This is not “crying wolf.” I understand what you’re getting at in terms of relative harms, but thinking along these lines and then telling people they can only call out the worst possible offensive behavior is a problem.
Treating women’s bodies as a commodity to be consumed is an unacceptable and pernicious trend that needs to be called out.
As someone who is at 5 years with no family contact (because my family are the most miserable people I’ve ever met), I say good for him. You can’t choose your family, but you can choose who you allow in your life. If those choices mean he’s happy, then more power to him.
Presumably the same one that produced “Surrogte’s”.
Yes. He looks full-on demented.
Can we just have a round of appreciation here for the Jezebel writers, who have been ON THIS SHIT like nobody’s business? I am filled with love right now.
No we can’t. That’s the problem. Pro Choice people see a troubled young girl, desperately in need of help, failed by draconian cuts of vital social services.
So often pro-lifers present the issue as a choice between abortions and no abortions. It is not. It is a choice between safe, legal procedures and a fucking horrorshow of misery and desperation.

I grew up ELCA Lutheran. I’m 38, but when I was 10 (so almost three decades ago, to put the timing in perspective) I had a conversation with my pastor about how could we believe in a loving God who would have people born gay only to watch them struggle under a greater burden. His response? We can’t and we don’t. The…
I’m starting to see a lot of churches with rainbows on doors or windows in order to make the point that not all churches are the stereotype you think they are. I have no interest in heading inside at this point in my life, but it’s important not to lump everyone we think we disagree with together out of convenience…
Jesus was all about an integrated society and love and was a very PC guy himself.
There is an excellent picture book The Story of Ruby Bridges with lovely illustrations for young school-age children.
I disagree. Rockwell actually altered the picture to ONLY include Ruby. He also cut off the heads of the white marshalls escorting her, for emphasis.
As the parent of a white six-year-old girl, I can’t imagine the stress of that for her and the stress of that for her parents. I feel like before I would have looked at that picture with some sense of the momentous occasion, but now it is just pure horror. I would like to think I would be that brave but I don’t know…
What gets to me is that they made little black kids deal with the entire brunt of ‘desegregation’... putting them into lily white spaces where they were threatened and hated. I put ‘desegregation’ in quotes because it’s not what happened — they never, ever considered bussing their little blond Susie McBeckerson into …
