Yeah, he started smoking regularly around the time of Zack & Miri. After the movie premiered and didn't make Judd Apatow bucks, Kevin got depressed and went into a big weed haze that he hasn't seemed to work himself out of. If nothing else, he said it got him to quit cigarettes. I guess that's something.

Of course, it probably doesn't help their case that it was THEIR shitty fans who prompted Burr's rant. If you want to have a little less faith in humanity, check out some of the #freecumia stuff on Twitter.

They've had a lot of comics who aren't quite in the Jim Norton/Doug Stanhope genre on their show. They used to have Brian Reagan, Patton Oswalt, and Marc Maron in from time to time. I heard Maron briefly mention a while back on WTF that their show had become increasingly uncomfortable to be on.

I like Hodgman and Jesse, but half the time, the guests just kill the podcast for me.

Norm's Mangrate ad is one for the ages.

Coogan's use of the word "moribund" here makes me happy.

He definitely went through a coke and booze phase, but when I watched the documentary on him, I was surprised by how early he got sober. I think he was clean by the time he moved to NYC.

I've been finding that I rarely agree with the AV Club's music reviews these days. I like a lot of the stuff that makes their C-list.

Not to mention witnessing the death of a coworker in said slaughterhouse.

SModcast was my entry point too. I liked it until Kevin started smoking weed and the show became increasingly annoying to listen to. I recently jumped back into Tell 'Em Steve-Dave.

Yeah, Duty is probably my second favorite. Slump, schlump.

I've heard they're also doing a regular, not-as-limited pressing on black vinyl afterwards. This is good news since my chances of scoring one of those 1,000 copies in Birmingham probably aren't so great.

I love most of the music Scharpling played on his show, and I love a lot of the stuff he hates. There's no place for me.

He's in a band called DTCV. I saw them open for GBV a couple of years ago.

…And further immortalized in "Let's Make the Water Turn Black."

There's nothing wrong with not liking somebody. Posting a dozen comments about how much you don't like him on the other hand…

I thought the exact same thing when I saw the photo of Marc at the top of this page.

You mean the guests aren't a couple of 20-something dudes who are convinced they're being hilarious? I might have to check this one out then. I like Hodgman, but a run of annoying litigants forced me to take a break from the podcast. The two guys on the one about tipping a few weeks ago actively angered me.

I've listened to both shows, and I'm going to keep with it for now. Dave is clearly still figuring out what he wants the show to be. I'm glad to see I wasn't alone in being a tad confused by Doughty's drug talk. Maybe I missed his point, but isn't a former heroin addict flippantly talking about how heroin isn't a "big

Haven't heard the WTF, but I kind of got the same vibe when I heard him on the Low Times podcast a while back. Then again, I really liked Local Business but was kind of lukewarm on the concept-heavy The Monitor, so maybe my tolerance for high falootin' intellectualism is lower than I'd like to think.
