The new model is a smart move. It makes the podcast far more accessible, and it still gives the hardcore fans like me a reason continue to pay for the premium.

I think On Demand and Netflix has helped kill the whole "movie channel" format. It's kind of sad, but considering I cancelled my cable two years ago, I guess I'm part of the problem.

I remember when Bravo used to show independent and foreign movies. Then, when their format slowly morphed into something else, they introduced IFC as basically the What-Bravo-used-to-be Channel. I don't guess they're going to launch a new No, Seriously, IFC network.

Cabin Man scared the SHIT out of me the first time I heard it.

I didn't read that line as a serious political slam against the movie, but it did strike me as unnecessary and bit elitist. Then again, this is coming from a liberal living in Alabama, so I might be more sensitive to such things.

I bought it and Christmas Vacation when I cancelled my cable a couple of years ago so I'd have them around for December. But yeah, if you have cable, there's really no reason to own either one of those movies. I feel the same way about Seinfeld on DVD.

No audience is more annoying than Bill Maher's. The worst.

I've been wanting to go back and start from the beginning, but I'm almost positive my work computer will block access to the RealAudio streams. Is there an iPhone-friendly workaround for these?

The Wurster here actually isn't bad. Poor Tom looks like he's terminally ill.

The rumor mill has it that Tom is moving to L.A. to produce a show for IFC with Chris Gethard. Somehow, the idea of Tom leaving New Jersey is even sadder to me than The Best Show ending.

I was actually pretty excited about it going in because I'm a Zappa guy, but yeah, it was a bit of a letdown. I get the impression that she's sick to death of talking about her dad and her childhood at this point, which is completely understandable. Her upcoming book sounds like it might be interesting though.

My understanding is that Pollard was embarrassed that he used the GBV name as leverage to ask such a ridiculous price. He felt it brought an air of "Who the fuck do these guys think they are? The Who?" to the band as a whole. Then Bob said a bunch of really mean personal shit. Kevin wasn't in the right here

Luckily, I just recently made the switch from iTunes to Amazon for my season pass needs. I bought the pass last summer with the understanding that it was just for the first half, so this whole $23 credit thing was a pleasant surprise for me.

I read a story online a while back about a guy who saw Gaffney working at a guitar store. When the guy walked up and told him how much he loved Sebadoh, he started screaming at him.

I've only listened it once so far, but I liked it just fine. I had it on while I was running though, so I was a bit distracted. I'll give it a better listen when the LP comes in (Joyful Noise was nice enough to email out the digital downloads last week).

I've been a subscriber for years, but I've always kind of wondered what anyone really gets out of the free 20 minute samples. I think just releasing a full show for free once a season would be a better bait for new subscribers.

I was at that Professor Blastoff taping! Wee!

Yeah, Carlin later said that the he barely even remembered the week he did the show because he was so coked up the whole time.

I've noticed that major labels aren't as generous with including digital downloads and the indies. Still though, for $35, you'd think it wouldn't kill them to throw us a bone.

@avclub-78b8364ecce8d691351080c376b3ac39:disqus It's a 2 LP set. The standard album is spread across three sides, and side four is a bonus 15-minute remix/mash-up thing that I haven't bothered listening to yet.
