Maron seems to have a serious resentment for people who are content and happy with themselves. Anyone who isn't a self-loathing mess is lying to himself (see Dane Cook). Anyone who hasn't battled substance abuse or depression issues doesn't have any credibility as an artist. I really like Marc, but whenever he swings

The part of the Slayton episode that really stood out to me was when he mentioned what an awful club the Stardome in Birmingham is. I live in Birmingham, and I remember him performing there all the time in the 90s.

I was surprised that Rogan's stint on the Man Show wasn't brought up.

I think it's kind of interesting how everyone seems to like and dislike different characters on CDR. Bob Ducca is one of my favorites, but I find the episodes with El Chupacabra a bit tedious and ones with Little Gary unlistenable.

Oddly enough, I wound up watching the first half of Reality Bites a couple of weeks ago (I'd only seen bits and pieces of it in 1994), and all I could think of was how annoying his character was.

The book Perfecting Sound Forever briefly mentions the recording of the first Ramones album, and I was kind of surprised by how much editing went into it. Apparently, Johnny had to go back and punch in a lot of guitar parts in between chord transitions.

Every anecdote I've come across regarding the making of a Terry Gilliam film has lead me to believe that his movie sets aren't a very fun place to be.

Great! Pizza!

That debate is almost as tiring as the ol' "[fill in the blank] was the first rapper" discussion.

Fascinating story:
I bought All The Stuff & More Vol. 2 one afternoon, and when I got home, I found out Joey died. That kind of freaked me out.

Oh, and one of the absolute stupidest purchases I ever made as a kid was a pack of Mortal Kombat cards. I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting, but video game screen-caps printed onto cards wasn't it.

Not being much of a sports fan, I wasn't a big baseball card guy, although I did wind up getting several packs here and there. I even got a pack of 3D basketball cards at some point. My main passion was the 1994 line of X-Men cards. Those were the shit. I still have all of my old cards in a couple of cigar boxes

I think that's the result of just having too many people with a mics in front of them. You wind up with everyone butting heads to get a clever line in. It's the same reason why I find Doug Loves Movies to be really frustrating at times.

Same here. They actually had me watching YouTube clips of Wired. The whole movie is on there in 12 parts, and I'm tempted to watch it just to see how awful it is.

Sound Opinions
I downloaded this one after browsing through the article. Good podcast! Well, this episode anyway. Hopefully, this will be something good to replace Comedy Film Nerds with.

I agree with Calvinist. This is a pretty huge drop-off from the other years. I think 1984 would have been a better pick, at least in terms of great indie/punk stuff.

Yeah, it's a fun one. I think I like BOC way more than anyone born after 1981 really should.

Our song was the timeless "Hanging By a Moment" by Lifehouse. Wee!

Well, if there's one guy I can think of who should be fully entitled to play the "Do you know who the fuck I am?!" card, it's Stephen Stills.

Did Doug put up a better version of the Kevin Pollack episode? The one I downloaded had so many sound issues that I couldn't listen to it.
