Counterpoint: Since the player hadn’t scored yet, there shouldn’t have been the penalty for unnecessary roughness. Perhaps they called the penalty because they thought the runner had scored and would not have called it if they’d realized he was at the 10. In other words, it was deemed a late hit, and not a cheap shot…
