I mostly agree, but I would put the 3DS in the success column. They’ve sold something like 60 million units and it’s got a huge library that keeps selling.

I don’t know, I think a lot of the harassment does come from gamers, but some of it comes from trolls and jerks, many of whom may not even play games. I’m a gamer, and I have many friends who are gamers, and most of them have no idea what “a Gamergate” even is, many of which don’t read games journalism at all.
