I think the death of Tellah in FFIV was one of the saddest deaths in a video game. All because he lost his daughter, so he uses the one spell (meteor) that will kill him to avenge her and hit Golbez. He dies, and it literally does NOTHING to Golbez. All in vain. That's truly fucked up and saddening to me.
