But none of what you just said convinces me doing nothing/opening up the economy is a good idea. Sweden may have “flattened the curve” but has more per capital deaths than we do (as well as a lot more than Norway/Finland, neighbors who enacted strict stay-at-home rules).

Please cite your sources regarding Sweden flattening the curve. This says otherwise:

Sweden has 10 million people. US has about 330 million people. Conservatively that’s like 10 million people dead. 

Look at Norway & Finland vs. Sweden’s response. Norway and Finland both locked down pretty heavily. Norway (3.37) and Finland (2.56) have much lower COVID deaths per capital than Sweden (17.3). They also are seeing cases declining where Sweden isn’t yet. (USA is 13.1 COVID deaths per capita).

My favorite is the high school teachers recording videos of them signing & telling their students how much they miss them. Do they not know teenagers?  What kid wants to watch their geometry teacher sing songs from the movie Trolls? Give me a fucking break.
