You should read, then comment. Your comments do not make sense in relation to what I said. But yes of course privilege plays a part. Not everyone was blessed with a family or the education to understand everyone different form themselves.

No, I do not. Perhaps read, then comment. My only concern was women, even those who are not privileged enough to be aware of transgendered folks still deserve to feel space and these laws both discriminate against the trans, as well as make those lacking privilege feel unsafe.

Unfounded fear does not elimiate the need for a safe space.

Ugh. Another cisegendered person assuming someone’s gender identity, and the general tone of this article reeks of privilege. I know Greg Howard has moved on but perhaps Deadspin could get a few less white people commenting on the lives of black athletes.

A lot of people are just transphobic bigots for sure. That said there are certain people who are fearful men will take advantage and go into women’s restrooms. The restroom has to be a place where people, especially women, feel safe. Even if their fear is unfounded, nonetheless their fear is real and has to be

I doubt the photo is a reaction to the recent charges. But look up the photos they used of Greg Hardy over and over againm, not to mention the tone of the articles comapred to the sliver of coverage Manziel’s domestic abuse scandal has gotten. Not hard to see Deadspin covers these stories differently and not hard to

While Ted Cruz is of course awful, and of course racist. A white author should not refer to any POC as “token”. While this man’s friendship with Ted Cruz in no way means Cruz is anyway concerned about the struggles of minorities, including African Americans... refering to him as a token, especially as a white

A lot of racism is not done out of disrescpect. Doesn’t make it any less harmful or toxic.

Johnny Manziel gets a photo looking remorseful for his domestic abuse, not to mention less than 10 lines of text. Compare to black athletes involved in domestic abuse and Deadspin’s coverage of them that essentially displays black people as animals.

White people don’t need to be asked to approrpiate other cutures, they are pretty good at doing it on their own with no consideration for those cultures.

Remember when he raped a woman? Apparently neither does anyone else.

Hard not to read this article and the comments and not cringe and the underlying homophobic tones. The idea that someone can turn on or off what they are attracted to is incredibly offensive. Acting on it is a completely different story of course.

I am not saying there aren’t legit concerns here, there are. I do worry though that this type of outrage means next time this studio wants to do a biopic they choose another white cis straight man from a time when people of color were below 2nd class citizens.

This is a conversation white people should stay out of.

30 years later and a black person still can’t be a scientist. Ugh. Please no one see this.
