Should've said "penned." Fixed.

I say why I didn't like it right in that same sentence!

It's a song from Master Of Puppets. (And thanks!)

Hm, except for the fact that this album is getting great reviews from most places. Can't people just disagree about records because they have differing tastes?

I feel no shame in liking this song. I feel no "guilt." Calling it "dumb" is by no means an insult in my book. That's sort of the whole point of this piece.

Pixie: Does he play a lot of Oasis stuff live?

I love Oasis. I'm seeing Noel Gallagher tonight, actually. Couldn't be more excited about it.

Hey there, just wanted to respond to this quick. Let me just say that I can totally see where you're coming from with this. However, if you look at what I wrote in context, you'll see that the "damaged man-child" comment was also referring to two other aritsts—Jandek and Beal—who are NOT mentally ill. I did not have

Oh yeah. Like I said, my relationship with this band was like a marriage, and that was during the stormy separation. :)

I was joking! Sorry you didn't like the story.

Oh, good: a sarcastic comment on a message board. There just isn't enough of this sort of thing on the internet.

Ha, good call.

It's a reference to Grimes from two sentences earlier. It's something that's come up a lot in the writing about her.

Hey, I saw The Promise Ring reunion show in Milwaukee on Friday (they were good!), watched MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE (it was good!) and TOWER HEIST (it was surprisingly good!) on Saturday, and suffered through maybe most the boring Oscars ever on Sunday. I also listened a bunch to the new Bruce Springsteen album which

I really like Bon Iver's records, have seen the band live three times, and I thought the "SNL" performance was really disappointing. As I suggested in the piece, there are BI songs that I think would've played much better on TV in terms of looking and sounding a lot more alive and exciting.

I totally agree with the "electro-pop junk food" description. It's good for what it is, but after listening to it for a few weeks I'm not all that interested in revisiting any time soon.

Well, I can't guarantee you're going to agree with every review we publish. Also, I think this review does perform the basic duties you're asking for, while also offering something more. You're free to ignore the "more" part, of course. :) But I appreciate the feedback, Simon. Duly noted.

Hey, can you elaborate on this? Because in the past year we've actually made our reviews longer and, in my opinion, more substantive. How exactly is this review "unconvincing" (or what do you see it trying to convince you of?) And how this part of a larger trend? Honestly curious about your feedback here.

"This is music that's meant to be turned up as loud as you can get it and
not thought about too much, which reviewers on this site always seem to
have a problem getting their head around."

(Dude, don't oversell it. You just stepped on both of our jokes.)
