Is that a rip of Urge Overkill? I like Okkervil River and Urge Overkill! The Stage Names is awesome, but if I'm going to the beach I'm gonna play Saturation first.

You're right. Also: They're beard-y!

Yawn
Indie rock is sooooo lame! Okkervil River is boooooring! Play more Mastodon!

I didn't. Nor did I touch on the succubus thing. First Steve: Not sure if this is major or not, but it was weird seeing Michael Ian Black as an angel. I sort of couldn't take that seriously. As for the succubus, I thought for a sec that Sock might be the one who was going to die this ep (as teased in the commercial).

Yes, that's very nice. I believe that was a direct influence on Ennio Morricone's score for the Sergio Leone's westerns.

I forgot about that, too. I would have tried to squeeze in a reference. Thanks for mentioning it.

You keep sending the checks, I'll keep catering to your tastes.

Thanks!
So, there's a gunfight at the end of Rio Bravo, huh? Thanks for the spoiler, jerk!

Love this movie
I'm also a big fan of The Last Boy Scout. I actually like Tony Scott, and I think his flashy direction makes that film more subversive in a way because it's a deconstructist buddy flick that looks like a straight-forward buddy flick. You call it distracting, but I just think Scott buries the air quotes

Mudcrutch moved from Florida to California, and this record is very much in the vein of 70s California country rock.

OK GrantB, that boat moment was cute. Does that mean this episode was great? I don't think so. If you really think the show is getting better, tell me why. Because I can't follow your thinking, either. I'll give you this is a nice, cute show. But I guess I'm getting bored with that, especially since there was a recent

Don't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but when Randy was talking about how Archuleta was "caressing" the notes in "Love Me Tender," my worst suspicions of his curious, creepy fanboyism were confirmed. Ick

I agree, dorkinfo, about the crazy wife. She was crazy in an exasperating way, and not funny exasperating. And, not to sound like a dude, but she's not looking as cute as usual on this show …

Apologies for my grouchiness, which spilled over to my Reaper blog tonight. My TV stories really bugged me tonight for some reason.

That's it, I'm done with this show. Life is too short to watch Syesha turn one of the greatest protest songs ever into a show-biz lament about how being in the top 4 "changed" her. I didn't think it was possible to overshadow the awfulness that is Archuleta but, well, there you go. Honestly, when she broke down

I like this band, I think. They are way more punk than that one Rancid show I saw back in '95.

Feral, since a big part of my daily life is listening to and writing about music, finding a record like Alien Lanes does qualify as life-changing, since I probably wouldn't be here today without it. Think of the first time you anonymously maligned someone on a message board—that seems sort of small and sad to me, but

Lobsters, you and I have had issues in the past, and I think you're being overly harsh, but I gotta give credit where credit is due: That was funny.

That list was in The Big Takeover, Ptiv. I recently picked up Frank Sinatra's Watertown just because it was on that list.

I hate it when people say stuff like this but…
Alien Lanes changed my life.
