Scott
How can I pretty much agree with everything you say and still love this movie?

Story arc
I agree that Reaper could use an overarching storyline to connect the eps better. But is it too much to ask for a little patience here? We're only three episodes in. For now I prefer to focus on what Reaper is doing than what it isn't doing—it's consistently charming and engaging, with characters I like a

Camarata
I got a southern vibe from this record the first several times I played it, and only learned about the band moving back to South Carolina during my research. (Most of the record was actually recorded in Seattle, though it still has a southern feel to my ears.) You think it sounds more like Seattle. I made my

If you read my review instead of scanning in for band names, you might have noticed that I agree with you—I said BoH is often described as amalgam of those bands, but on this record it moves beyond those influences. Commenting without reading—height of laziness, no?

Insert irony here
Since, as Malachai put it, joking in a joking manner doesn't always translate on message board, just wanted to point out I was joking about the very hilarious and insightful thing.

Obviously me
In my professional opinion, you are not funny. I, on the other hand, am very hilarious and insightful. That's why I get the outlined-comment-box.

Very incisive
Some real pearls of wisdom here: Bruce Springsteen isn't a "common" man, but a rich rock star? Wha? I never noticed that before! I guess that means Bruce Springsteen is just a writer who uses his imagination to tell stories about people who live different lives from his own. That either makes him a phony

Great job, Noel
I also strongly recommend that Springsteen fans pick up the Tracks box set—there's at least three albums worth of great Springsteen material on that.

Good point, Joel
I guess "fairly quickly" hinges on whether you like the first part of the episode. Ditching the vessel—which I actually didn't notice took about half the ep, but thinking back you're probably right—didn't feel drawn out to me. I liked it. Your tedium was my "fairly quickly."

Jables
I didn't call it short-lived. I said Scrubs "OR any number of short-lived shows that have been relegated to the TV dustbin." Maybe I didn't write that clearly enough. If not, more apologizes.

Hey
I don't really get the comments saying I'm bagging on all pop music. I think this particular chart was pretty weak compared to some of the others I've reviewed so far, but there were about a half-dozen songs here I liked. (I gave the first song an A-, for crissakes.) Come on dudes, at least read me before you rip

Gone Daddy Gone
Gnarls Barkley has been given proper credit. Thanks for the head's up.

Too bad
I saw Ryan Adams on Tuesday here in Milwaukee, and I thought it was pretty incredible. He was sorta pissy there, too, but he never crashed the ship. Guess i got lucky.

Adam1
You are very correct, sir. Thanks for pointing that out. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to kick my own ass for messing that up.

Buffy
I'm a fan of Buffy, but I'm not a super fan. Still, when I said Reaper (based one episode) is a lot funnier, I didn't mean it as a knock on Buffy—I think this show aims for more belly laughs, and succeeds. (And I saw potential for serious drama, too—do you remember when Ray Wise stopped cold on his oily charming

TuxedoMonkey
Thanks for the head's up. Those mistakes have been corrected in the review.

Indies
I'm not sure if indie bands of today are doing worse than indie bands of the past. My feeling is it's probably about the same for most bands. I was responding to the assertion that if corporate music labels collapse, this will somehow benefit independents. And I just don't think that's true, especially if music

Partdavid1
With all due respect, the reason you're not worried is because you don't make a living from music. Unless you do your job for free, I don't think you have the right to be so cavalier about somebody else's livelihood, especially if you get enjoyment out of it. Personally, I'm all for anything that

MacKaye
DanielM, to answer you question, no. I respect MacKaye, but didn't he start his own record label more than 25 years ago? Does that quote go double for him, too?

Lance
Corporate music is dying, but independents are hardly thriving. When I interviewed Will Sheff of Okkervil River, he said he was now making about what he made at his old video store job. And this from a guy who fronts a fairly successful "independent" band. This is not an either/or equation. Everybody that sells
