@Hey_Blinkon: Hey man, it's no big deal! I'm not swinging the hammer or anything. In fact, I'm sort of doing a *wink wink nudge nudge* to you guys so it doesn't happen from someone else. #speakup is always the safest place for this kind of talk cause discussing whether or not someone should have been banned is a

@DaveKap: I thought the same thing about the Ads, but then I realized that AdBlock Plus was removing the distinct image bars that surround the ad posts that were making them stand out as ads. Maybe the same thing is happening to you? Cause when I disabled ABP, those ad posts had borders, and horizontal bars and

@DukeOfPwn: I rarely promote the snarky one-liners. In fact, I do a lot of demoting of the comments you mentioned. People tend to abuse the system. I'm VERY strict about giving out stars. I'm only limited to giving out 10 a month, but I'll be lucky if I hit 3. I don't look for snark or wit. I look for people who are

Guys, this isn't the place to discuss Monday's Kotakuclypse. You are more than welcome to continue this discussion over at #speakup though!

@Kobun: That's the tricky thing about moderating such huge sites such as this one. You're gonna have variety in the kind of leniency among the mods and the editors. Granted, it is safe to say that no ban or de-star is permanent and non-questionable (there are a few that are though, like spamming racist slurs on all

@Grave: Im the copy etidor :)

@saulpimpson: Although I do my best to reply with a reason for my taking any moderating course of action, many people do not. I've talked to my higher-ups about this and there is a better system in the works that will be more upfront. For example, if I disemvowel a post it will force me to put in a reason and

@PanicDriver: There's a level of leniency I have when it comes to moderation. I'm not all Iron Curtain on off-topic. Its natural for people to stray the course in the comments. I think referencing the Chargers sticker in the picture is your best safe bet, like "Hey, there's a chargers sticker in that picture! I <3

@Ultraseamus: Fear not, for the Gawker techies are well aware of this and a new and improved system is in the works! Trust me, the current system is horrendous to use on the backend side too :(

@PanicDriver: No, that is related. Off-topic means if a post is about how there should be a Fable IV, you shouldn't start talking about how you hated NFL Blitz or how BP is the devil.

@Chewblaha: Yeah, it's been one snafu followed up by the next. Seems like the servers are thinking that they get to go on summer break! Our techies actually pull quadruple shifts (if that's even possible) during those outages trying to get things sorted. It's just an unexpected coincidence that the servers are acting

I think this is a great idea and a great way to get feedback that normally would get lost in the comments. Lots of stuff happens on Kotaku and a big topic one day can be forgotten by the following week. The readers would appreciate this, and I'm sure they would appreciate it more if all the Kotaku editors chimed into

@Michael: And you need to cool it and drop it too.

@the_amazing_doug: Yes, it will be juicy. It becomes sort of a home-made tomato salsa.

You are familiar with Gawker's commenting rules over at [gawker.com] and I'm sure they're not too dissimilar to what we have over here at [gizmodo.com]

I believe that this conversation topic should be dropped, before people get hurt and the true god known as Banhammer makes an appearance :p
