Note that nobody has suggested “unfettered” government control. “Unfettered” anything — whether the “unfettered” free market or “unfettered” governmental oversight — tends to lead to trouble.

Lest one forgets, the reason for having a TSA — a government agency devoted to transport security — after 9/11 was that the airlines’ (or airports’) privately-hired, sometimes poorly-paid employees were doing an absolutely miserable job with security (ergo, 9/11).
