I think the difference is, is a book a constant reminder in your pocket that buzzes to entice you to pull it out in the middle of class or on a date? I feel like books, games etc are escapes where as the net and social media are an ever present, 24-hour itch.

I teach as well and it’s certainly a tangible issue.
