He calls himself a "classical liberal" who believes in "reason and individualism", which is the sign of the standard libertarian douchebag.

Ha ha, your failure is obvious to everyone. Sorry you had to run off with your tail between your legs.

White coders are just more scrappy and strategic. They're intellectuals. Uh… other things that sports reporters like to say about white football players.

"De-emphasize empathy" after many words spilled on arguing that women value empathy more than men seems like a clear argument that the workplace should be configured for the benefit of men versus women.

I did. Why?

I picked them because they tend to be frequented by right-wing paranoids who say hilarious shit like "lying liberal media".

This is how that hilarious video of Bieber trying to sing it at a show and going like "ooby dooby doo, burrito" happened.

It's catchy enough, but very generic. They played it at the taqueria I went to for lunch and it was so similar to the songs that played before and after it I thought it was on loop.

The more intellectual discussion sites like Breitbart, The Blaze, trumptrain2020, /r/The_Donald, etc.

Ha ha of course the person who has a temper tantrum over people making mild fun of a popular song is also a right-wing paranoid.

I think that song was about jizz.

My point is that the writing of dead intellectuals says very little about the beliefs of actual live people. You might as well cite Marx to make claims about what socialists believe.

In my experience tech doesn't have too much of a problem with regional diversity, but most of the people who move from Alabama to a coastal city to work in tech are people who see getting out of Alabama to be a plus. I've worked with a lot of people who were the only liberal/punk/lesbian/trans person/etc. in their

I mostly try to avoid talking about (electoral) politics at work, even though I work in an industry and city where very few people would disagree with my left-wing political views (tech, in Portland). It just seems like a basic courtesy, just like you don't talk about sex or religion or bodily functions.

"Whew, I'm getting tired punching you in the balls. I need ScroteJems (tm) to power my punches. Every punch has a 1/10,000 chance of producing 1-3 ScroteJems. Or, you can go to the TestiCooler and buy 5,000 for only $5!"

There are two major flaws here: you assume that there is a linear and measurable scale of "coding well" (there is not), and that the job of a software engineer is writing code (it is not).

Software development isn't quantitative. If it was, it'd be a lot easier to hire. "Soft" skills are invaluable. Some of the best team members I've had were just OK programmers but very skilled at communication, mentorship, and helping drive discussion. Some of the worst have been highly talented technicians who refuse

I don't know how it works at Google, but at most tech companies a senior engineer is an IC, an individual contributor. They might have a mentorship role within a team but not supervisory duties. Team leads are frequently called just that, or their title includes "manager".

Last I checked, corpses don't believe anything at all.

This wasn't written by an executive, from what I've heard. It was written by an engineer. It's not an official memo, just something passed around on internal networks.
