Holy crap I can’t believe I made it on Jalopnik. I was in the suv behind the Mustang and ran into the driver later. He slowed down because the day before he ripped his front bumper off going across the tracks the ruts are a solid 2-3 inches deep. Also didn’t see the train till after I got back in the car and we

Question: was your wife’s maiden name Walschaerts???

Nice story bro, but no one ever loved a Yaris. I call bullshit.

+1 for your frustratingly necessary reminder to shoot the consequences in landscape mode

Pinto?

“This is why a manual transmission drive is never a smooth experience.”

I was going to do that with a Voyager I picked up. Was going to be my kid’s playhouse, but the nosey village board members threw a bitch fit about it.

My own first car was an 11-year-old hand-me-down Plymouth Reliant wagon. I warped the head on that thing, among other acts of mechanical abuse. It may have been worth $800 or so when I got it.

I say buy your kid a car, but make sure it’s kind of a piece of shit. Something that’ll need to be fixed once in a while and is at least a little bit embarrassing to drive. Eight grand sounds like a lot nicer of a car than I’m thinking. Hell, five grand could get the kid into something surprisingly decent. Around

Also in theory since your port into the head is both the exhaust and intake port, you can get an unusually high cross sectional area for the port. The design also eliminates valve float as there is no reciprocating mass so the natural

I am honored that you made a post about this. You did a lot more justice to the topic of rotary valves than most people do. Most just assume it is a Wankel rotary engine.

May I suggest for your next project that you try sleeve valves? That should provide hours of toil and frustration too!

Sounds like my high school. I too was in vocational school for the last year or so because they decided to change the credits requirements meaning I “technically” had enough credits to graduate my senior year but instead was required to stay... so I took small engine class and welding ( both useful to know BTW)

Vo-Tech kicked in yo

Target fixation is a bitch, some people can’t stop and people that can it is a chore to achieve.

Ugh... I guess I’ll wade into this mess.
