The front end of this car looks like it was not designed with a frunk in mind in the first place. The drop-in “frunk” definitely looks like a design afterthought.

It depends on the design of the car but generally they all act like hybrids once the EV range is depleted.

I rode in a full-sized EV bus at Newark airport and it was refreshing! I sat on the back seat where the diesel engine usually clatters through the floor, and the EV was infinitely more comfortable. You could hear the whir of the electric motors and that’s it.

Even if they never plug it in, at worst it will act like a “regular” hybrid and return much better fuel efficiency.

Correct! I think Toyota stopped making any kind of inline 6 several years ago. They would have had to start from scratch, or at least dust off some old designs that may or may not have met design targets of the day (emissions, efficiency, weight, cost, performance, etc).

If making EVs were that easy, car makers would have done it years ago. EVs currently require huge battery packs, which don’t exactly swap in to “existing proven cars”.  In most cases, yes, the entire car must be re-developed.
