BOF diesel trucks and unibody crossovers are not comparable.

Imagine paying down a car note for a Kia for 6 years and still owing $21k. Whew!

That image is straight from the Tesla website!

DURABLE AND RUGGED ENOUGH TO GO ANYWHERE. TACKLE ANYTHING WITH ELECTRONICALLY ADAPTIVE AIR SUSPENSION THAT OFFERS 12” OF TRAVEL AND 16” OF CLEARANCE.

Hyperscreen!

All cars should have automatic headlights that default to the Auto position every time the car is started up. If for some reason you want to turn them off, they will revert back to Auto the next time the car is started up. Just like stability control.

My 2004 BMW had nearly perfect rain sensing wipers. The system on my 2017 Mazda is just OK. The main thing that separates the two systems is reaction speed.

I agree. Also, that was a weird car. It had a Yamaha V8 mounted transversely in the engine compartment!

The mistake would be buying this as a daily driver. As a 2nd car for the weekends, it makes more sense. Especially since you will be paying AMG prices for repairs.

For me, it’s rain sensing wipers. Having to fiddle with the wiper stalk as rainfall changes is one of the most annoying tasks when driving. Rain sensing wipers removes that and lets me focus on other critical aspects of driving. Even poorly executed systems are better than having to manually change wiper speed.

I think this is close to a nice price for the right Mercedes enthusiast.

The Skyline and 3 series are both great in their own right.  I don’t think any serious enthusiast would discount either car as a future classic.

Yes, I just sort of molded the original quote to the article. Carlin was remarkably insightful.

Any car being driven faster or slower than you. (RIP George Carlin)

In my view, it’s been happening in slow motion for a while. I will use a simplified example from the BMW USA lineup.

I am disappointed nobody brought up BMW E46 or E39.

The term that comes to mind is Unconscious Incompetence.

These came with an inline 6? Nice!  TIL

The heaviest ID.3 weighs about 4,200lbs. The battery in the top-trim ID.3 Pro S already weighs ~1,100lbs - over half the weight of the original GTI! I suspect the battery in the GTX will be at least as heavy as the Pro S battery, if not more.

Some of the stuff I’ve seen shouldn’t even be considered Early Adopter issues. The truck doesn’t even have Autopilot or “locking” differentials!
