I suppose it is street legal in a technical sense. Most highways I’ve seen have a minimum speed limit somewhere around 45mph, which is significantly higher than the Peel’s blistering 28mph top speed.

The EPA’s range number is an aggregate of city and highway ranges, with highway driving accounting for 45 percent and city driving making 55 percent of the total. All of this is to ensure that the official range number that comes out the other end is as accurate as possible, again, to reflect realistic usage.

The Crown Signia shares the same basic AWD hybrid drivetrain that was standard on the US Venza and optional on the Harrier. Platform flexibility probably eased the financial blow a little, but it’s still incredibly expensive to re-tool for exterior and interior.
