If Giz had wanted to do nothing more than regurgitate the article, they could have saved themselves time and trouble and simply linked to it. Robert's allowed to draw his own conclusions. I, for one, still value independent critical thought.

Sometimes I think it would be cool to travel back in time and meet the people who built these edifices and congratulate them on their amazing mystical visions, only to have them say, "What? No, we just thought it would be pretty. See over there? We can see the animals drinking at the water line at sunrise, it's very

I have an amazing ability to turn off alarms and remain asleep. Here is an MS Paint mockup of what Sleepshadow would do~

Fantastic article and very timely for me. I've had 2 interviews in the last 6 months at other companies and one offer. The bottom line was that as much as I want to leave where I'm at, those other companies couldn't meet the benefits, pay, and flexibility I have where I am now. If I can find a way to change my

I've been stuck in a job I hated twice. Both times, I couldn't move because my ex was out of work, and I couldn't take the risk of moving somewhere where the job might not have been as stable. I was utterly miserable. It was the kind of misery that would wake me up in the middle of the night, filled with the urge to

The best thing about carrying your CU's credit card is that your CU is unlikely to play the silly just-this-side-of-legal games as, say, BofA. So I have two in my wallet right now, one from the CU I belong to (and pay in full every month), and the other from USAA that I never use. BofA, Discover, Capital One, and

A good tip if you folks don't take it so literally. I've done many garage sales and always leave about 10% of my bigger items unpriced. This way there's no questions on the smaller items, but some of the bigger items I might get a good offer. Case in point - I had a mini fridge I wanted to get rid of and my wife

Can we skip the part where holier-than-thou types post about how all credit cards are evil and only suckers would—oh, too late.

I think that having a limited amount of time does tend to focus a person. However, it seems like so many "day jobs" are different from those of Faulkner and Eliot's days, when you put in your hours and left it at that. So many companies now require overtime to the point where you are working 60+ hours a week, and the

seriously, what I'd like to know is how to get a small enough spike in energy & motivation levels to provide focus on self-improvement in the evening, but not too much energy & motivation that leaves you wired at 1am when you need to be up at 6am the next day.

Far too much time is spent every vacation trying to find tiny bottles of toothpaste, a portable razor, and the adult novelty toys that won't trigger a TSA pat down. Instead of scrambling around at the last minute, keep a bag in your closet with the essentials that you always need when you go on vacation. Clothes will

I've never seen an air marshall request a pen disassembly and I've seen lots of pens on flights. If they are asking for you to disable your pen, it's not the pen the marshall is concerned about ;-)

I'm a FA and when they ask for a pen. I make sure they know that I want it back. It might sound absurd to most people but if an emergency would occur we need one. It's mandatory to carry one when you're on duty.

The link mentions that, but chocolate melts. I also can't be trusted with chocolate for very long.

Zip ties and a pair of wirecutters. Two of my favorite things. Great for cable organization. Particularly if you have boxes of spare cables laying around.

Feedly

I've been in that situation as well.

Ugh, also just don't play candy crush :P

"but when you hate your job..."

My question has always been, if we rob Peter, to pay Paul, who pays Mary??? :-)
