It always really annoyed me that, despite Parminder Nagra’s compelling lead performance, this movie catapulted the career of Keira Knightley instead. This is absolutely not a knack on KK’s talent, but more of what I consider to be the racism of the British and American film industries at that time.

I did end up crying during both of their speeches.

This is a tautological argument. Besides, ‘Elite' means nothing but prestige here. It doesn’t imply educational value or journalistic capability. You’re arguing against meritocracy whether you realize it or not.

She must have some astounding dirt on people. I really don’t understand the longevity of a 70 year-old woman who has had the same haircut for decades in an industry that prioritizes youth and constant change above all else.

There are plenty of idiots who go to elite institutions, and plenty of very smart people who go to community college.

Multi-racials NEVER acknowledge the privilege they live. Like I’ve never met a blonde white women or white man admit they’ve gotten ANY advantage. But a brunette or a redhead will tell you some stories. Then, they’ll all INSIST they worked for everything they ever got and list their troubles.

No wonder we can’t get justice for Breonna. We can’t even let her be the focus of the comment section of her own damn articles. Jesus Christ people.

Last I checked this post wasn't about Herman Caine. Jesus are you all that ignorant?

Well said. I hope you go far in your chosen profession.

You can’t just think yourself sane.  Mental illness is not a weakness of one’s will, it is a chemical abnormality in the brain.  As someone who has suffered from depression my entire life and having to listen to people tell me to “just cheer up” for decades I can say one thing with certainty.  Fuck you.

Thank you for this. I have bipolar disorder, as well, and it is extremely difficult to watch Kanye, with unfathomable wealth and resources, do what he’s doing. It would be different if this were the initial onset before diagnosis when everything is terrifying and confusing and unknown.

Thank you for this article!

I hate to be this guy. But I will be. It sounds like you have Bipolar II or maybe Bipolar unspecified. Bipolar I is a completely different animal. It seems like you’re getting by on outpatient programs only and can’t conceive of the problems that require life-long intermittent stints in inpatient programs. You know,

That is great news, congratulations to you!
However, not everyone is able to function in a healthy productive manner without meds, and they should not feel like they are somehow inferior because they can’t just nip it in the bud in their brains.
I know I’m defensive because I’m one of those people, but this comment

Thank you for this.

Clueless was even more culturally significant than most youngsters realize. It really helped lighten up the grunginess of the 90s. It really paved the way for that boy band era, as there was a cultural and tonal shift around the Clueless time. We were all still reeling from the loss of Kurt Cobain in ‘94 and things

seriously is Jezebel paying for this mindless BS?

Why should it be depressing or embarrassing? Just because someone with a mental illness gets treatment, it doesn't mean they're going to go back to "normal." She's happy and isn't hurting anyone so why can't we be happy for her? And if her posts make people uncomfortable, they don't have to follow her. People need to

Most fandoms are fucking gross. Really really liking something, or someone, isn’t a personality trait.
