I’m honestly shocked that any celebrity would maintain ties to this circus. These responses just sound rabid and desperate. 

That bit about Lena Dunham was a joke. I think most people probably aren’t as educated as we might like and even the among the educated, there are very few who stop to consider other people outside their immediate world view.

Thanks for allowing me to think about this issue. Discussions like these are why I visit Jezebel. I’m happy when someone gets me to think deeper about my assumptions and thought processes.

Uhh that doesn’t mean anything. There are many subcultures that exist in America. You can literally live inside of one without ever having to have real contact with other people. I know people who only speak their language of origin and have lived in America for over 40 years and they live in LA.

Are you a psychiatrist or are you repeating an oft shared sentiment around these parts? There are plenty of people with mental illnesses who do horrific/questionable/immoral things while unmedicated or untreated. And bipolar disorder can literally make you believe things that aren’t true. Literally. 

Part of what I’m trying to say is that for certain mental illnesses it could be theoretically difficult to distinguish delusion from rational thought. Not all delusions need to be on the level of “aliens ate my homework”, some may be subtle.

Teddy Riley is not bullshit-he’s great, but the Hollywood Walk of Fame is bullshit. People can pay for stars so they are awarded not necessarily in proportion to your cultural contribution. When you think about Ryan Reynolds or Jennifer Garner getting a star before Teddy Riley—the system doesn’t make sense.
