I have read and re-read all of the Pern books and absolutely love them. I'm a little nervous about how they'll get turned into movies; telepathy between dragons and riders is such a major element and I'd think that could be tricky to get right in a movie.

Agreed, agreed, agreed. While I'm glad the Clippers won their series so they can go beat the shit out of the OKC Thunder (my most-hated team in the league), I am NOT a fan of the whining and flopping that's constantly rewarded by refs.

Add me to the "disagree with guy on shrooms" camp. I've seen the Avetts a few times in a variety of venues and I've always thought they put on a great show. They're energetic, enthusiastic, and fun. I couldn't believe how nuts they got sometimes- like a punk band playing fiddles.

really isn't so bad. I've been living without it for about a year; I get all of my teevee via hulu, Netflix, and iTunes. It's far cheaper than cable and is pretty convenient. I'm not surprised more people are taking this route.
