I’m glad Thirteen Days finally showed up right at the end of the list.  It’s a great movie on its own merits, the Greenwood/Culp performances are perfect, and Costner’s quite serviceable if you are generous in spirit about his accent.  Definitely a good watch.

as the son of a man who ran himself over with a tractor when he was 9 years old, I sympathize.  He hit something when he was helping my grandfather and flew over the front of the tractor and it rolled on top of him.  Fortunately the ground was pretty soft and he escaped with just some bruises.

The Big Hero 6 cameo would easily be a contender for his best one.

You didn’t list his cameo in Big Hero 6, which was also based on a Marvel property.

He did well, and Marshall did a good job shooting around Gere’s limitations (as well as Zellwegger’s and Zeta-Jones’s). But I’ve seen Billy Flynn on stage played by someone who can sing and dance (Taye Diggs) and that makes it pretty hard to agree that Gere’s performance is perfect.

Came here to say the same thing! The amount of influence Howard Ashman had in shaping the Disney Renaissance cannot be understated and unfortunately I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves. It’s a real tragedy he didn’t live to see the success of Beauty and the Beast and I can only imagine what his contributions…

That’s where I remember him from the most. I enjoyed his work there. I always appreciate working actors who turn to academia to train the next generations. John Astin, IIRC, is still teaching even now!
